We are hiring a Staff Nurse-Endoscopy Part-Time | Fixed-Term | 16 hours per weekΒ for a hospital located in Tralee, Ireland.

Β Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to patients before, during, and after endoscopic procedures.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
  • Assist endoscopists during procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Monitor patients throughout procedures and during recovery, responding promptly to any changes in condition.
  • Administer medications, including conscious sedation, in accordance with hospital policies and professional guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and clinical records.
  • Ensure endoscopy equipment is prepared, cleaned, maintained, and safely stored in line with infection prevention and decontamination standards.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, health and safety regulations, and clinical governance standards.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies and adverse events.
  • Educate patients and their families on procedures, recovery, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate effectively with consultants, nurses, healthcare assistants, and the multidisciplinary team to deliver seamless patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and risk management activities.
  • Support and mentor newly appointed staff and student nurses where appropriate.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing professional development and mandatory training.
  • Comply with all hospital policies, professional standards, and the code of conduct set by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).


Requirements

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Minimum of 12 months' post-registration nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Post-registration qualification in Perioperative Nursing (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills.
  • Good IT and electronic health record (EHR) skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
  • Flexible approach to work patterns to meet service requirements.
